Back in February 2016 I bought myself an Orchid. I didn’t have a great track record of keeping plants alive at that point, but I decided I would enjoy the flowers and see if I could keep it going. Back then, I didn’t know that in the future I would still be enjoying this lovely…… Continue reading Future Flowers
Me and my daughter went to the zoo today. Quite the trip at about 1 3/4 hour’s drive each way. I am in a lot of pain right now but I enjoyed it very much. I’m not going to let fibro win, so I will still do stuff that makes me happy, never mind the…… Continue reading Giraffes!
On Saturday we went round to the pond in the village to do some work for my daughter’s project (The Barley Hollow Project). On the way we stopped by the church wall to see if there were any snowdrops. There were some there as well as a few further down the road. So I had…… Continue reading Snowdrops
If you look in my Nature Guide, you’ll find there are a number of flowers with Red in their name. Sometimes they look pink to me, but if their name is red, then they count! We have: Red Campion: Red Clover: Red Dead-nettle Redshank With insects, red seems to be more literal and things definitely…… Continue reading Red
When I was taking photos of frost and droplets on Sunday my daughter spotted a fly. Not sure what it was doing out and about in such cold weather, but it was nice to get my first insect shot of the year.
I said I’d share more photos of cacti and succulents, but then I got distracted by frost and pretty droplets! So here are those (mostly) spiky photos I promised. I really enjoy getting up close and seeing all the details you might not normally notice. Definitely spiky – and looks like it has armour behind…… Continue reading Spiky
Today is cold and frosty and I ventured out into the garden to see if I could get some photos. Firstly I was taking photos of frozen water droplets on the grass. Sadly squatting down to get photos of grass really hurts, so I couldn’t do it for long. As the sun got higher the…… Continue reading Shiny
I had an urge to take some photos today, but didn’t have much energy to venture out anywhere. So I decided to take some photos of our house plants. We have a bunch of cacti and succulents, and a (slightly random) Fuchsia in our living room. When I saw this week’s Lens-Artists Challenge, I realised…… Continue reading Drawing the Eye Indoors
I was just thinking about the topic for this week’s Lens Artists Photo Challenge: Special Spot Shots. My mind went directly to Cors Caron as this is one of my favourite places, one of my most special places. I then thought of the spot where I always see the Green Hairstreak butterflies that I mentioned…… Continue reading Green Hairstreak
